Mataró Takes Over the Presidency of the European Textile Collectivities Association Until 2028: A Strategic Opportunity to Lead in Circularity and Sustainable Industrial Transformation
This week, Mataró has been unanimously elected as the new president city of the European Textile Collectivities Association (ACTE). The decision acknowledges both the city’s historical legacy in the textile industry and its strong current commitment to sustainable transformation and innovation in the sector.
The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon, when Jaume Duch, Catalonia’s Minister for European Union and External Action, highlighted the significance of the appointment ahead of his scheduled meeting with Mataró’s mayor, David Bote, and City Councillor for Prosperous City, Wealth Generation and Decent Work, Sergi Morales. The occasion served to strengthen Mataró’s strategic positioning in the European economic and industrial landscape.
As CPAluart, we were invited to share our insights on the current state of the textile sector in Mataró and discuss emerging opportunities related to circular economy models, technological innovation, and sustainable production systems. We view this new presidency as a valuable platform to showcase the region’s commitment to modernizing the textile ecosystem, promoting local talent, and boosting economic resilience.
In an era defined by global challenges and green transition imperatives, Mataró is uniquely positioned to lead a structural shift toward a more circular, competitive, and inclusive textile industry. The city already benefits from a well-established industrial base, specialized training centers, and a growing network of stakeholders actively engaged in eco-design, material reuse, textile recycling, and supply chain transparency.
Assuming the presidency of ACTE will enable Mataró to strengthen collaboration with other European regions, attract investment, encourage joint innovation projects, and increase visibility for the many initiatives already transforming the Catalan and European textile landscape.
At CPAluart, we remain fully committed to supporting a textile industry that combines creativity, sustainability, and local economic development. We believe this is a pivotal moment for the territory to leverage its strengths and create a positive, lasting impact.
